Overview

Underperforming human capital is limiting organizational success.

Stress, burnout and disengagement means employees are performing below baseline. This causes attrition, turnover and suboptimal productivity—all of which result in wasted resources.

At the Flow Research Collective we use a neuroscience-backed approach to guide your people back to a state of sustained peak-performance.

This restores baseline performance and primes your people to go beyond baseline. Wastage is minimized. Value is maximized.

Workplace induced stress is costing your organization:

$300Bn

cost to employers of work related stress in the US alone

$550Mn

working days lost from stress-related absenteeism

80%

of employees are stressed at work

94%

of executives agree that tackling employee performance is critical to success
World Health Organization
“Employee stress and burnout have reached “epidemic” levels over the past decade.”

Problem 01: Burnout

The majority of employees are burned out:

23%
of employees report feeling burned out at work either very often or always
44%
of employees reported feeling burned out sometimes.
Burned out employees have lower productivity. They are:
63%
more likely to take
sick days
2.6x
as likely to be actively seeking a different job

Problem 02: disengagement

Most employees are not engaged in their jobs:

51%
of employees are disengaged
16%
are actively disengaged, meaning they’re taking proactive measures to sabotage the success of their organization.

Disengaged employees cost your organization:

An actively disengaged employee costs their organization $3,400 for every $10,000 of that is spent on their salary.
+59%
Organizations with low engagement have 59% higher turnover.
To restore your teams output to baseline and beyond we aim to achieve sustained peak-performance. We do this by training the ability to consistently access flow state.

What is “flow”?

Often referred to as “being in the zone” or “being in state”, flow refers to a state of hyper-focus and complete concentration. Almost everyone has experienced flow at some point in their career.

When in a flow state:

Action and awareness merge. Time dilates—slowing down or speeding up. You become totally immersed, at one, with whatever you’re doing. Throughout a flow state, performance drastically increases.

Why is Flow our focus?

Over half a decade of research has found flow to be highly correlated with measures of performance. From creativity, decision-making and information processing to skill acquisition, collaboration and motivation.

Outcomes

01

Participants will understand the science of peak performance-the maps and models, the principles and practices.

02

Participants will apply these learnings to their own workflows, behaviors and routines to increase output.

03

Participants will do this in an agile fashion implementation, self-experimentation, iteration, until they arrive at optimal results.

04

Participants will engage in continued psychometric testing to ensure that tangible, lasting results are being produced.

05

Participants will conclude the program with self-designed performance plans have been proven to increase output. They will implement these plans long-term.

Engagement Format

Our format is designed to achieve permanent behavioral changes while minimizing investment of time and resource. We will achieve the outcomes through this combination of touch-points:
One-off
Onsite Intensive
Bi-weekly
1:1 coaching and progress reports
Weekly
Learning objectives, benchmarking and metrics
Daily
Behaviour modification and tracking

How does the programme work?

Phase 01

Introduction to key tools and concepts followed by experiential exercises and personalized diagnostics

01. Acquire baseline assessment of performance through psychometric testing.
02. Learn how to leverage the flow cycle to minimize struggle, enhance deep work and maximize recovery.
03. Learn how to implement the 21 flow triggers to achieve consistent, sustained focus.

Phase 02

Daily Behavioral Modification

We are scientists not consultants. We take a scientific approach to our instructional design. This means we don’t tell you what will work, rather we have you self-experiment and see what actually works.
You’ll go through the following cycle:
01. Implement behavioral modifications.
02. Analyze results by reviewing the data you’re tracking.
03. Modify behavior based on results.
04. Integrate and consolidate whatever is producing results.
This applies to all behaviour changes-from re-configuring your relationship with technology to changing the way you structure your workflows.

Phase 03

1:1 Coaching

You will go through a series of intimate, intensive coaching sessions with our peak-performance coaches, all of whom are licensed clinical psychologists.
These sessions will:
01. Promote heightened self-awareness, allowing you to unlock sticking points, remove negative behaviour patterns and spot opportunities for growth.
02. Personalise all learning by customising your peak performance plan around your own unique psychology and physiology.
03. Provide accountability, feedback and ongoing support to make sure you’re actually progressing and seeing results.

Phase 04

Debrief & Integration

01. Breakdown of learnings, changes and results.
02. Individual peak-performance reports to ensure each participant understands their own unique access
points to peak-performance.
03. Final review of self-designed performance plans. Inform participants of scalable tools that will allow them to cascade learnings throughout the organisation.

What do others say about our approach?

Forbes

“The number one management metric you need to know? Flow state percentage. Interruptions that move us out of Flow state increase R&D cycle times and costs dramatically.”

Fast Company

“Major companies, including Microsoft, Patagonia and Toyota have realized that being able to control and harness this feeling of Flow is the holy grail for any manager.”

Deloitte.

"Steven must have been in Flow himself up there! He didn’t stop, he was relentless. What I would tell a friend is that this is probably one of the best courses I’ve ever done. The material was really quite remarkable, stuff that I can apply immediately. I’ve already started applying it today!"
